Bergamo Shakespeare for
Actors: Comedy
With the new flights from Belfast to
Bergamo, many of us are planning to
visit Milan or Lake Como. But why don’t
we spend one or two days in this
beautiful city? Let’s take the cable car
and visit “Città alta” (the upper city),
with plenty of monuments, restaurants
and wine bars. Maps and some other
material will be given to participants to
help them plan their next Italian
holiday! Explore the particular challenges and
delights of performing Shakespearean
comedy in this accessible workshop led
by Rosie Pelan, a classically trained
actor with over twenty years’
professional experience of playing
leading Shakespearean roles. Rosie
devised and taught ‘Shakespeare in
Performance’ at QUB and was the NI
judge on the BBC’s ‘Shakespeare Off By
Heart’ project, hosted by the Crescent
Arts Centre and televised at the RSC.
Rosie will provide texts but feel free to
bring your own pieces to work on if
you wish.
