Page To Stage This course will focus on adapting an
existing text and turning it into a piece
of theatre for performance. The tutor
Conor has previously adapted four
extant stories to stage and will talk you
through all aspects of bringing the
page to life. Participants should have a
story or book in mind for adaptation.
Participants will learn about lighting,
sound, staging and how these
elements blend together to create live
performance from the written word. English for

Showcase Master The
Monologue
This is a class for those who already
speak English but would like to widen
their range of language and fluency.
Grammar and vocabulary will be
covered, with a focus on conversation.
Students will increase their confidence
in speaking and writing formally in
English. The teacher will adapt the
classes to suit the level of the students,
and may be able to help prepare
students for formal exams. A 12 week course which offers learning
all about theatre. All participants will
be split into casts for short plays which
will be performed as a showcase in
January. The casts will be taken
through all aspects of putting together
a short production including set design,
costume, lighting and most
importantly acting, under the direction
of Conor Maguire. An opportunity for aspiring and
professional actors to hone their
monologue skills. Through this six
week course all participants will learn a
contemporary and classical
monologue. Different theatrical styles,
approaches and methods will be
taught and applied to ensure that
actors will maximise their chances of
impressing in auditions.

NEW YEAR LONG COURSE
All For One
This year long course is for those who
are serious about putting a show
together. You will explore the structure
and delivery of a one or two person
show and each group member will
develop their own script. The course
allows for the full development of
scripts for reading and performance
and will be delivered over the full
period of a university year (Sept to Jun)
with classes held fortnightly along with
a combination of personal and online
tutorials. There will be an opportunity
for some of the scripts to be performed
at the Belfast Book Festival 2018. If you
wish to register for this course, you
must attend the information day on
Sunday 10th September at 2:00pm.
