If you’ve ever wanted to write a play,
now’s your chance. This course looks at
the basic structure of playwriting based
on six core rules. Once you’ve learnt
them, you can set about breaking
them. Participants are encouraged to
experiment, take risks and above all,
get the work down on the page. All
participants need is an idea for a play
which they will be encouraged to
develop into a possible scene
breakdown leading to a first draft.
Participants are offered the
opportunity to share work they have
developed throughout the term.

People write a memoir for many
reasons: to tell the family story,
recognise an important family member
or to tell of an amazing time in one’s
own life. Whatever the reason, this
course encourages participants to
gather in the stories and look at the
shape and structure, the use of time
and memory – that will support the
unfolding insight. Suitable for people
at any stage of their writing, these
sessions offer a relaxed and supportive
setting for those embarking on one of
the most rewarding and insightful
experiences of their lives.
