The lessons will focus on narrative, plotting, character, setting, description, dialogue, and more, prompting participants to think critically about their work. There will be structured writing sessions each week, and students will be encouraged to bring their work to class for discussion and feedback in a supportive and creative environment. Through a combination of writing exercises, critical feedback and attention to the work of established authors in a variety of genres, you will be encouraged to become more productive, to develop your writing skills, and your own unique voice. Suitable for all levels. Mondays 7:45-9:45pm (16+ yrs) If you’ve ever wanted to write a play, now’s your chance. This course looks at the basic structure of playwriting based on six core rules. Once you’ve learnt them, you can set about breaking them. Participants are encouraged to experiment, take risks and above all, get the work down on the page. All participants need is an idea for a play which they will be encouraged to develop into a possible scene breakdown leading to a first draft. Each week, you will be guided on a journey of self discovery and creative exploration, helping to uncover, heal and explore who you are. The programme is designed to provide a space for participants to realize their true nature, access their authentic voice and to write consciously and creatively. The course tutor is a therapeutic writing facilitator, coach, therapist and author. Tuesdays 11:30am-1:00pm (16+ yrs) People write a memoir for many reasons: to tell the family story, recognise an important family member or to tell of an amazing time in one’s own life. Whatever the reason, this course encourages participants to gather in the stories and look at the shape and structure, the use of time and memory – that will support the unfolding insight.
