When asked about favorite or special memories from the club, Mrs. G couldn’t pick just one.

“There are a series of memories that stick out for me. One is having everyone come every Tuesday and give up their lunch to help someone outside their perspective. I know for high school students that’s one thing that’s hard for them is to get a global perspective and they give their lunch away to help someone that’s in Kenya. The other one I think is when Dominic came to visit and when we got to the parking lot, all the PSA members were out there to greet him. He said “Is this for me?” and I said “Yeah its for you” and he just started crying and said he needed a moment. We drove around the Silver Creek parking lot until he could gather his emotions then we walked up and all the PSA members welcomed him and balloons went up. He just started crying again and it gave me this sense of bridges being built across the continent. I also love when we go work with the elementary school kids and watch them get all excited about what we’re doing.”

Why is this club important to Silver Creek?

“ It’s a chance for students to give back. I think it’s a chance to learn about a culture and a society different than their own. I also feel it’s a great community for kids to be a part of something.”

How is it different from other clubs?

“I don’t know enough about other clubs but I feel very honored to be a part of it. I feel honored to be a part of high school students who are willing to sacrifice for other people. It has a great service component, community feel, and I love how there are clubs to offer to students who find different interests have a place at silver creek where they feel happy, home, and a sense of community.”
