her boyfriend hiked to various tea houses and stayed the night there before continuing on their journey . They experienced a great deal of culture shock when they discovered that the food prepared for them at the teahouses was cooked with yak dung !
Even though Ms . Gregory has been all over the world , Colorado has always been her home . Growing up she spent a lot of time outdoors , which may have nurtured her love for environmental science . In addition , her father is also a teacher and his work inspired her to continue his legacy of educating youth . Teaching has proved to be an adventure of its own for Ms . Gregory . She says that the most challenging thing about teaching is giving students the individual attention they need . It can be difficult to help a struggling student in a class of 30 high schoolers , each with different needs . One of the most shocking experiences Ms . Gregory has had so far is the time when one of her students got a fish hook stuck in his head during an outdoor lab . The student was fine but he had to leave class to get his injury taken care of . Despite all of these unexpected challenges , Ms . Gregory says she loves teaching at Silver Creek .
When asked about a defining moment in her life , Ms . Gregory gave an interesting answer . She believes that the person she is today is the culmination of experiences and she can ’ t pinpoint one moment that has defined her character . But her experiences traveling , exploring the outdoors , and now teaching have all contributed to the person she is today .

In the last edition of Beak Speak we talked a little about bullying and just what it is . Then we put your knowledge to test and the results came as a surprise ! I handed surveys to English classes in each grade at Silver Creek to see what the majority of students said they ’ d classify as bullying . The results are based on a random sampling of students . I thought more students would have said they had been bullied or have bullied someone else after taking the survey and thinking about what bullying really means .
Here are the results at Silver Creek : 66 % said that gossiping is bullying . 91 % said that put-downs are bullying . 83.5 % said that punching someone is bullying . 68 % said that shoulder-checking someone is bullying . 76 % said that unwanted touching is bullying . 89 % said that a fraudulent post in someone else ' s name is bullying . 60 % say they have been bullied .
