This year, the A-Wing is busy with students practicing their talents. They will sing, perform, and play their way into your hearts. These students, (AKA The A-Wingers) are thrilled to show their work with their fellow Raptors, but they need your help to stay performing. The performers in the A-Wing work hard almost everyday to put on a fantastic show. These students want be seen and heard, so come and see the products of their efforts! Their passion and diligence for their art is unmeasurable.

The Silver Creek Marching Band is hard at work during and after school perfecting their

show, “ Hope Is,” written by Richard Goss, Aaron Hines, Steve Martin, and Dan Bryan. The band has been working hard to improving the music and be able to play it while marching. Dylan Ewing, one of the bands Drum Majors, says, “A solid twenty-four hours [a week] of work is being put into this show. ” The marching band will be performing the halftime show as well as doing pep band at home games. Besides performing at football games, the band will be participating in competitions with other high school bands. These competitions will be occurring throughout October.

Orchestra

The October orchestra concert is rapidly approaching, and both orchestra groups are putting a lot of effort and work into their music. The Concert orchestra is working on a piece called Ice Sculptures by Brian Balmages, Mock Morris written by Percy Grainger, and Momentum by Richard Meyer. Symphonic orchestra, one of the highest level orchestra at Creek, is working on three pieces as well; Symphony NO. 104 “London” by Franz Joseph Haydn, Rest written by Frank Ticheli, and Perambulation for Strings written by our very own orchestra teacher, Mr. Trapkus. Hayley Myler plays the viola in Symphonic orchestra and says, “ I enjoy playing Mr. Trapkus piece because he has a really unique style but it still follows a form of classical music. You can tell that there was thought put into it. There is a story behind each movement. ” All of the orchestra students are eager to perform Perambulation for Strings as well as the other pieces of music on October 11th.

There is an after school activity that many kid participate in. This club is Fiddle group. Here, student play Irish and Scottish fiddle tunes. Anyone can join and the group rehearses every Thursday from 5 to 6:30 in the band room.
