Going around corners.

Thomas Smith, a junior here at Silver Creek High School who was recently interviewed about his Phobia of going around corners (aichmophobia). It all started when he was around eight, when he played the Ouija board with his cousins. At the end, he noticed nothing strange after the first few days, but then he started to see figures and began to freak out. They would be in the corners and it became a paranormal experience. Now ,he has to check his surroundings before walking around a corner to check if anyone is there.

flying Birds / any type of bird

Delaney Tureson, a senior here at Silver Creek High School, has a huge fear of birds (ornithophobia). She developed her phobia through her aunt that also has the same overarching fear. When she sees a bird , she begins to freak out and tries to avoid it. She is more afraid of “pigeons” than any other bird as she says, “they will take you down”. When going outside she has to check that no birds are in sight because if she does come across one she could have a panic attack.

Having a phobia is normal and you shouldn't be embarrassed to have one. Nearly everyone has one, and if you open up about yours, you can learn about the people’s phobias around you. If your phobia is affecting your everyday life, seeing a therapist can help overcome or alleviate your anxieties associated with your phobia.
