We also interviewed the coach of the Silver Creek basketball team, Ms. Hannah Foster, who is actually a graduated student from our very own Silver Creek. She is passionate about helping and involving kids, so when the position for a coach opened up, she took it right away. She’s not only a coach however, she’s also the program director. She encourages students to come to games and support the team and the athletes. “Having people to cheer them on means a lot to them and gets them more encouraged to play. Just showing up and supporting them is huge.”

During the exhilarating game vs Longmont High School on the 23rd, we were able to chat with some of the sporty students who took part in playing the game. Our very own Bailey Birmingham was a player herself. When asking about her team she claimed it was great -- the best, and she just likes the sport. Although there were only two practices before the Longmont game, Bailey’s favorite part about those practices were the running.

Another involved student is Jada Anz, an active student at Silver Creek in both the Art and Photography club. While talking to her, we learned that she joined the team for the chance to have more fun and get people more involved in the program. After being asked how she’d want more people to be apart of the program, she said, “More people should join.” She thinks the competitions are fun and everyone should have a chance to be apart of them.

The Unified Sports program and its games are more than just a competition between schools. This program is a chance for students to come together and enjoy sports without any ridicule or heated rivalries. Silver Creek students should use this opportunity to learn and participate in the program by attending the games and cheering on our players.
