FCA

FCA, or Fellowship of Christian Athletes, is a club that welcomes anyone interested. Led by Coltan Grabau, Abby Martin, Hannah Watts, and Abby Sparks, all members gather together every week to widen their perspective and expand their thoughts. About two times a month, the group hosts an event featuring a guest speaker, sharing their story and how their past has affected their present day selves.

their thoughts. About two times a month, the group hosts an event featuring a guest speaker, sharing their story and how their past has affected their present day selves. Come meet everyone on Friday mornings in Mrs. Grule's room at 6:45, and be greeted with open arms, and a warm breakfast! For further information, I interviewed one of many leaders, Abby Martin.

What is your club’s goal?

“Our club's goal is to create an environment throughout the school that is fun, loving, and a place where people can go to learn about each other.”

What does your club do in their meetings?

“A normal meeting would start with food, we go chill and eat food, then after that sometimes we go and play games, other times we just sit around and talk to get to know eachother better. Then sometimes we will have a lesson and have a speaker come up and explain what they want us to learn from today, and give us insight on relationships, media, and anything that could relate to our generation”

How is FCA different from other clubs?

“It is very different from other clubs because everybody in there is someone that really wants to make a difference, and sees each other as a family. Everyone that comes to our meetings is really part of our big family, from freshmen to seniors.”

What is your favorite memory from the club?

“One time Coltan Grabau, did this skit in front of the class, all pertaining to FCA, and he was sleeping and had someone in the back of the room act like his Mom. This woman said ‘Coltan get up for FCA!’ and Coltan just layed on the couch repeating ‘give me a couple more minutes to sleep!’. Then out of nowhere he goes ‘Wait, Coltan is speaking!’, talking about himself in the third person, gets up and knocks over everything on the whiteboard. Like all of the markers were on the floor, all the chairs were flipped over, and all of Mrs. G’s personal items were all over the floor. So, this is one of the many favorite memories I have from the club.”
