Somewhere Unforgettable
Creative Writing Anthology 2015
This year the Global Classroom creative writing competition challenged our students to create a vision of an unforgettable place
in their reader’s mind. The place could be real or imagined, somewhere they’d been or somewhere they’d like to go. A parallel
competition encouraged budding artists to illustrate the theme.
Over 4,000 students from 28 schools took up the challenges.
We are very grateful for the work of our judges - authors Joe Craig, Andy Briggs and Georgina Harding and illustrator Matthew
Loffhagen. They selected the top ten stories for each age group and the best 15 illustrations for this anthology. To be selected
for publication is a considerable achievement; our student authors and illustrators should be very proud.
‘I can see the Huangpu River from where I live. My artwork pictures what the river was like before the buildings and pollution, when wildlife
swam and trees grew on the riverbank. Nature and the city used to be perfectly balanced, but unfortunately, this is not the same now. The
rapid growth of the city is gradually eroding away nature, but I will never forget the beauty of Huangpu River.’
