6. What are some of the
misconceptions
about
marketing that you have
encountered in your work
with SMEs?
That mimicking what competitors
or other people in the industry are
doing will yield the same results. We
have some people that come to us in
a frenzy because their competitor just
got some major media coverage and
they want the same thing. They think “if
they can do it, we should be able to do
better.” By then it’s almost too late. To
quickly copy what their competitor has
just done is often a game of cat and
mouse, whereby originality is thrown
out the window and hope is all we
have left.
7. Any advice for individuals
looking to enter the world of
marketing in this day and age?
Just start writing, growing your own
social media presence and read! Drink
the Kool-Aid. Show your potential
employers or business
partners
that

business. Like myself, many startups and SMEs rarely look to
your education as a deciding factor on whether or not to hire
you. They want to see real world results that are relevant to
why they need someone like you. Become the world’s best
marketer for yourself.
8. What’s next for Onboardly?
