Finding Your Story

Go to your local library and scope out books that are waiting to be read and dusted off. Find a book that you have always wanted to read, but only thought about reading. Think about where you want to visit this summer in your mind; a story that will take you away.

Visit a used bookstore where childhood dreams are put to rest. What kind of stories do you enjoy? Romance, fantasy, adventure, mystery, spiritual, science fiction, non-fiction, fiction, anthologies, drama, young adult, etc?

Story Ideas:

Little House on The Prairie Collection by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Summer Sisters by Judy Blume

Women Who Run With Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Nature by Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer

Setting The Tone:

When you find your book, pick a location where you want to get lost in the story. The beach, park, backyard, porch, poolside, under your favorite tree or simply lounging around your home.

Grab your favorite drink; iced tea, lemonade, ice water or iced coffee. Don’t forget some cookies or a small garden salad. Have everything you need available before you read so that way you don’t have to stop reading and get distracted.

Listen to the sound of nature or play soft music. Set a meditative tone that will take you away. Enjoy the time lost in a world through the written word.
