Creative Movement Magazine June 2014 Issue Issue | Page 7

I am seeing a issue in the music industry across the country. Any so called artist can get on a stage and, force the audience to listen to trash for hours. Just so they can see the artist they came to support. As long as he/she can spend the money on a time slot and hustle tickets. Venues are laughing all the way to the bank as artist friends and, fans try to show support by attending their shows. The artist are not making much money if any, sometimes owing for unsold tickets. The so called promoters are laughing all the way to the bank. Making money off of artists , but not doing their job promoting. The artist put in all the leg work, looking like bottom feeders om the streets nearly harassing people to buy a ticket. Then doing the entertaining and filling the seats. This is a ugly cycle of entertainment. What happened to having to have talent to be on a stage and, being paid for your work? Artist need to really sit back and take a look at whats going on here. Make these people at the least put in work for the money you are making them. Stop allowing them to act as if they are doing you a favor. They should be the ones out selling tickets. Artist just used to have to show up and perform.
