EDITOR Pippa Bourke trys some new accessories on for size.

IS THERE SUCH A THING AS THE MAGIC LOOKING GLASS?

I got these pretty sweet accessories from Lowes and Partners Optometrists to protect my eyes from my computer.

I’ve always been a fan of sunnies, but never needed prescription lenses. When I heard of glasses to protect from blue light I thought it was the perfect excuse to hide the bags under my eyes while inside. But besides making me look more intelligent, what other benefits can a pair of computer glasses have?

It turns out, they’re actually pretty important!

We all know that UV light is bad, and we all have sunnies to protect our eyes from these rays. Well next along in terms of strength is blue light; emitted from computers, energy saving light bulbs, TVs, smart phones and basically things we’ve come to rely on in recent years.

Apparently blue light is a little bit more serious than those ‘super cool’ discos the Police used to run. Constant exposure can result in macular degeneration, basically making us go blind.

So besides preventing blindness, what else do the magical glasses with hardly any prescription actually do?
