1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Mix up your favorite white cupcake recipe or boxed mix according to directions and separate into 3 batches. Add blue coloring to 1 portion, red to the other and leave one plain.* Take about 1 tablespoon of the red to fill 1/4 of the total cupcake tin space, as you want to fill the tin 3/4 total using all 3 colors. Do the same with white and then the blue. Do not swirl, but leave it in layers. Bake for amount of time recipe indicated. Take out to cool for at least 30 minutes before icing. While cooling, mix icing. Pick your favorite basic buttercream and flavor as desired. Separate into 2 or 3 batches (I did 3 but just white and one other color is fun too!) and color and flavor as wanted. Decorate! Add sprinkles or just icing to all cupcakesand have fun! Ifyou have decorating bags and tips you can do a fun multi-color swirl by putting alittle of each color, side by side, in your icing bag. FUN IDEA! Have the kids to ice their own cupcakes! No matter how they are decorated, they’ll be a huge hit at your 4th of July gathering! 22
