I want to design all day every day, but if it’s not solving a problem then I hit roadblocks.” Alexander Vidal Domingo by Iyahana Baltimore In today’s digital age, tools are widely accessible to entrepreneurs and professionals who want to start and grow their own business – even kids. Alexander Vidal Domingo is an 8-year old kid entrepreneur, designer and owner of Alex’s Tool Box. We spoke with Alex about the design tools he’s using in his own business, and where he finds the passion to keep at it day after day. CG: Alex, tell me about your company. What’s the story behind it and how’d it evolve into what it is so far today? Alex: I was talking with my mom one day and she said that she wanted a new home. I wanted to help her out so I learned how to design houses on SketchUp 8. I learned a lot on my own, but I also got a lot of help from my dad and my auntie. CG: Why do you care about designing homes? Would you say that it’s your passion? Alex: It is my passion. I care about building and designing so that everyone can own a home they can be proud of. It’s all about the happiness of other people. That’s why I love it. I also want to build and design more homes because I believe that no one should be homeless. CG: That’s bold. Do you see any roadblocks in your way? Alex: A lot of times I struggle with new homes and new designs. I design because I want to build something amazing, but it drives me crazy because I get stuck often. CG: How do you overcome that?
