Health care is another large problem that affects the community, especially for lower income families. When it’s a problem as serious as cancer, it can be such a devastating force on people, not only physically and financially, but it also takes its toll on the spirits of a family. The Oscar de la Hoya foundation provides huge comfort to everyone in the community by providing several medical necessities. For example, thanks to an endowment from the Oscar de la Hoya Foundation, the Cecilia Gonzalez   de la Hoya Cancer Center at White Memorial Medical Center opened its doors in April of 2000.  The treatment center serves the community with a full range of options for all types and stages of cancer, including surgery, gynecological oncology, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
