Community Service

A small sample of grade specific outreach activities included:

- Sixth grade students collected food for Variety Feeds, packaged food bags for distribution to Pontiac schoolchildren, worked in the HUB garden, and raised money to support the programs provided by Horizons Upward Bound.

- The seventh grade collected donations and shopped for holiday presents for local disadvantaged teens.

- The eighth grade provided reading and video materials to the Mott Children’s Hospital Outpatient Oncology Unit and provided a holiday party and treats for children enrolled in Oakland Family Service’s Day Care Program.

All-school initiatives included:

Pet supplies were collected and donated to the Humane Society and local animal shelters

- One family community service events were coordinated by the MS Mothers Council:

In the fall, parents and students went to the Forgotten Harvest Farm to harvest squash that were donated to food banks and cleared fields of rocks and debris.

Award Winning Students

- Three 8th grade girls qualified as regional finalists

for the “You Be the Chemist” competition and one

was selected to participate in the State finals.

- One student selected as State level of the

Geography Bee.

- Students received Scholastic Art and Writing Award.
