KED LIBRARY RI PAIGE Police and Thieves (The One-Bottle Cocktail, Page 51) Who hasn’t felt a little frustrated when the realization of fashioning that newfangled libation from your favorite watering hole or a recently acquired cocktail tome requires more dough and time than you have to spare? Maggie Hoffman heard our cries (or maybe she was answering her very own), and her brilliant response is The One- Bottle Cocktail ($22). Hoffman’s collection of over 80 delectable concoctions call for one spirit: rye, Scotch, bourbon, brandy, rum, gin, pisco, mezcal, or tequila—no bitters, no esoteric liqueurs, no fortified or aromatized wines, no pre-Prohibition era syrups required. The remaining ingredients are pantry staples and seasonal produce from your local market—all easily attainable and inexpensive. The One-Bottle Cocktail has too many goodies to pick favorites (This is one killer compilation!), so I narrowed down the cocktails featured to ones that list some our issue’s superstars in their lineup—She’s My Cherry Pie (cherries), Slippery When Wet (honey), and Tango Nuevo (cold-brew coffee). All three are easy, tasty, and in heavy rotation in our house at the moment! © Hundred-to-One LLC 2018. All rights reserved.
