One unexpected bonus was that having everything premeasured took all the stress out of
timing the meal so I could focus on the fun aspects of preparing dinner. I’ve never been
one for mise en place but Peach Dish quickly changed my mind.
The recipe card also shows the nutrition facts for those counting calories and the chef who
created the dish. And while it’s not on the card, the Peach Dish website has wine and beer
pairings for every dish. None of the meal kits include alcohol, but you’ll know just what to
pick up on your way home to make the most out of your dinner!
One of the biggest concerns with any meal kit is waste. Premeasuring all of the ingredi-
ents eliminates food waste but creates a lot of additional packaging waste. Peach Dish
takes this head-on with an advanced recycling program. The majority of containers can be
reused or repurposed because they don’t feel like the typical flimsy disposable containers
we’re accustomed to with delivery food. For those who are just looking to get rid of things
though, nearly everything in the package is recyclable. You can even buy a return label
from Peach Dish and mail the entire box back to them!
Meal kits aren’t for everyone. They probably don’t make sense if your first thought is, “I
could go out and buy this for less.” It’s everything else that Peach Dish brings to the table
that makes the meal kit a wonderful option. They provide creative Southern-inspired
recipes that you might never think to make. They deliver fresh fruits, vegetables, meats,
and seafood right to your door. They can even come close to teaching you how to cook if
you can follow directions well. And most of all, the joy of cooking a new meal, whether for
yourself or an entire family, makes it all worthwhile.
