Floors Sika takes to the floor with new CPD Roadshow A museum benefitting from Sika’s decorative flooring Flooring with the wow factor Sika’s flooring experts are touring the UK to deliver their newly updated CPD seminar programme to architects and specifiers. ‘The Specifier’s Guide to Flooring’ explores the many options in industrial, commercial and specialist floor finishes available to today’s practitioners, and how these can contribute to achieving greater design freedom. The RIBA certified programme includes the features and benefits of integral and surface applied finishes and the implications of floor finish specifications for resins, screeds and dry shake systems. Plus, as a special addition to this year’s seminar, the one hour sessions will also feature a section on recent innovations in seamless vinyl flooring systems, a move which follows the launch of Sika’s innovative liquid applied Decorative and Comfort floor ranges. Sika’s high performance, epoxy and polyurethane resin flooring systems push the boundaries in liquid applied vinyl to new levels, offering a sustainable, cost effective and seamless solution with thousands of design possibilities. From bold single colours to granite, decorative quartz, decorative flake and marble effects, the stylish range lends itself to new build and refurbishment projects across a wide range SIKA LIMITED of sectors including retail, offices, healthcare, leisure, education and food and drink. For example, the Sika Comfortfloor® range is ideally suited to commercial and public buildings where personnel stand for long periods of time, or where reduction in footfall noise and horizontal noise transmission is required. As a seamless system it is easy to apply and can be built up to serve individual comfort, acoustic, design, colour and cost requirements, with versatile finishes, smooth and anti-slip coatings, covings, floor to wall coatings, and incorporation into underfloor heating systems. Sika is delivering three flooring CPDs in June as part of the RICS Innovation Days, which will be held in Leeds on June 6th, Nottingham on June 13th and Warrington on June 27th 2014. The full Sika roadshow timetable, and details of how to book bespoke practice visits, will be available on the company’s website. Mark Bushell, National Sales Manager for Flooring and Refurbishment at Sika, said, “We’ve been running flooring CPDs for a number of years now and one of the things that always surprises specifiers is the sheer scope of flooring systems available in today’s marketplace. We’re especially looking forward to sharing details of our new decorative flooring ranges, which offer an impressive alternative to traditional sheet vinyl, lino, tile and timber flooring solutions.” Sika has developed flooring systems for a wide range of markets, taking into account design life, operational requirements, construction joints, floor to wall connections, surface design and installation details. Operational considerations cover many factors including traffic and mechanical wear, fire protection, impact and chemical resistance. Sika’s commercial flooring systems are available to download in a number of formats including BIM and NBS Plus. The innovative manufacturer has also developed an online flooring estimating tool to help customers calculate the required area and build up of their chosen flooring system.
