Firestone Building Products Master Contractor Event

SIG urges industry to ensure products
are legally complaint

December 2014 saw Firestone
Building Products hosting the
8th Master Contractor Event in
Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
A selected group of Firestone
Roofing Contractors who
achieved ‘Master Contractor’
status for the 2012-2014 period
attended the event. Selection
was based on performance,
both in volume of materials
and quality of installation. The
information is gathered through
the PIN submittal system which
all contractors should complete
for projects featuring Firestone’s
roofing products.

SIG Distribution - the Distribution division of the FTSE-250 listed
European construction supplier SIG - has urged the construction
industry to be vigilant in ensuring materials are compliant with
European standards.

SIG Distribution has advised the industry to choose construction
materials with verified product compliance documents. Recent media
reports claimed a significant portion of rebar imported from China has
not been up to European safety standards, raising concerns over the
quality of imported construction materials.
To address these concerns, SIG has launched SIG Assured - the
new official stamp of reassurance that SIG will be displaying to
show customers that every product it stocks meets all legislative
requirements.
SIG Assured gives customers peace of mind that all products it
stocks meet the requirements for a wide range of industry compliance
standards and that the information will always be verified by third party
experts. Customers can have access to all documentation immediately
upon request.

The event was special as it
also saw the 25th anniversary
of Firestone Building Products’
presence in Europe and the
Middle East as well as the 20th
anniversary in Asia.

“The industry is quite rightly disturbed, waking up to the realisation
that cheaper imports may not meet standards and that the safety of
professionals and customers could be so easily compromised through
the use of materials that aren’t compliant with European regulations.
We launched SIG Assured to reassure our customers that every
product we stock meets all legal requirements.” says Vaughan Taylor,
Business Development Director of SIG Construction Accessories.
