The versatility of
Posi-Joist is
breathtaking

Some products simply belong together. Where would bread be
without butter? What’s the use of a pen without paper? By putting two
complimentary products together suddenly everything works well. It’s just
the same with MVHR systems and MiTek’s popular open webbed PosiJoist floor system.
As the gradual implementation of the Government’s Code for Sustainable
Homes continues, architects and engineers are increasingly specifying
Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) Systems in order to
recycle the homes energy. By their very nature, ventilation systems
involve lengths of ducting running throughout the floor zones in the house.
Ask any installation team and they will confirm that the open web nature of
Posi-Joists is ideal when it comes to installing an MVHR system.
With Posi-Joists, not only can the floor span further than with conventional
joisting methods, but the speed of installation both of the floor and the

about on site notching or the integrity of a joist being compromised by
large holes being drilled in them. Services can simply be fed through
the open webs providing all the flexibility that electricians and MVHR
technicians need”.
As more and more housing developments move onto the higher levels of
the code for sustainable homes, flexibility within the floor zone will become
more and more important to the house builder and the levels of the
demand for Posi-Joist look set to continue to grow.
All of this means that it’s important to put good technical information into

web joists over alternative joist systems and covers technical areas such
as spanning capabilities, standard details, fire and acoustic certification
