BC Budget Recap

BC Premier Christy Clark discusses the 2017-2018 provincial budget.
The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s BC Budget Recap took place at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver on February 22. CPABC was pleased to be a presenting sponsor of the event. The 2017-2018 budget was the fifth consecutive balanced budget presented by the provincial government due to the government’s strong fiscal platform. BC leads the country in both job creation and economic growth and has the lowest unemployment rate in Canada. Key components of the recently unveiled budget include targeted tax credits, such as reduced corporate income tax rates for small business; the elimination of the provincial sales tax on electricity for business; additional funding to support the technology sector; reductions to Medical Services Plan premiums and a back-to-school tax credit.
