Let’s start at the beginning, the floating bridge end for those just joining us on the Island from overseas. e Basque Kitchen is a few steps along the road and offers beautifully prepared tapas as well as Basque influenced main courses using speciality products directly imported from Spain, an impressive wine selection and a gin collection to match. e Duke of York, one of Cowes most popular sailor’s pubs serves excellent pub grub, generous portions and is, during Cowes Week the scene of some of the liveliest bands in the Doombar marquee. Evenings not to be missed! Moving on to Shooter’s Hill there are a clutch of excellent restaurants to cater for all appetites and tastes. Mojacs is a restaurant serving nibbles, starters and main courses based on local produce, fresh fish and meats – enjoy a brisket of beef, Gressingham duck or cod and chorizo stew but make sure you leave room for the raspberry pavlova – it’s sublime. Across the road is Tonino’s a real, authentic family run Italian restaurant serving the best Italian food since 1979. With a large dining area, it’s perfectly set up for racing teams or just for family and friends to enjoy some of the best spaghetti Bolognese around.
