Access is via lock gates up to 4 hours either side of high water depending on tides. e maximum dra is 2.5m. Island Harbour is set in a beautiful and secluded valley, yet also offers east access to Newport, Osborne House and the site of the Isle of Wight Festival every June. e peaceful marina offers over 200 berths for annual moorings and visiting yachts, the updated and enlarged Breeze restaurant and bar, a children's play area, launderette and free Wi-Fi. Full marine services include a well stocked chandlery and 50 ton travel hoist operated by Richardson’s Yacht Services, free car parking for yachting visitors along with extensive hard standing. e marina is exceptionally well-sheltered and dredged up to 2.3m. With a cycle track into Newport and surrounding fields the marina is also an ideal place to bring children and dogs. As an alternative, moor opposite e Bargeman’s Rest for a longish (3 hours) lunch, and head back down the river with the ebb tide. Newport Quay is Isle of Wight Council operated. GETTING ASHORE e most common landing places for getting ashore by RIB, tender, or water taxi are Town Quay in West Cowes and Gridiron in East Cowes.
