EVENTS SAILGP The GBR SailGP team in action in Sydney Harbour awareness of sustainability and what we can do to help reduce the amount of non-biodegradable waste that ends up in landfill or the oceans. Family Day on Sunday 11 August will see a host of family-friendly activities taking place on e Parade, at Cowes Yacht Haven and Northwood House. Families can also get out on the water on one of the spectator boats for a special discounted rate. Monday 12 August is Charity Day and the official event charity, the 1851 Trust, will be providing various activities during the week and looking to enable young people to get afloat and experience the excitement of sailing at this iconic event. Further plans will be announced in the spring. Ladies Day, on Tuesday 13 August is a celebration of women in sailing and sailors and spectators are encouraged to enter into the spirit of the day by dressing in a navy-and-white nautical theme. A spotlight on young sailors is the theme for Cowes SailGP NEW to Cowes and fourth in the overall series, Cowes SailGP will take place over the first weekend of Lendy Cowes Week on 10 and 11 August 2019. The new SailGP is redefining the sport of sailing. As a completely new global sports series featuring bold, cutting-edge technology and awe-inspiring athleticism, SailGP puts the fans at the centre of the sport. With two days of close quarter racing just off Egypt Point, and official practice racing on the Friday, fans can come and immerse themselves in the action. There will be a FREE to access Race Village along the seafront directly opposite the race course or for those looking for the ultimate viewing experience, there will be a ticketed grandstand option. Spectator boats can also register their interest for more information on how to gain close access to the race course on the water.
