INTRODUCTION Wight Council planning department on the recent planning application for the J Samuel White’s/ Medina Yard site to the south of the Floating Bridge. This now granted application, coupled with at best considerable delays in the development of the Homes England/Isle of Wight Council Kingston Marine Park puts the continuation of shipbuilding and marine employment in Cowes at considerable risk. CHC will continue to engage with all parties to attempt to ensure a favourable resolution to this difficult situation. We continue to engage with stakeholders to develop cost effective maintenance dredging in the main harbour. In 2017 CHC carried out a review of our marine services operations resulting in combining all our services on both sides of the river under “Cowes Harbour Services”, headed up by newly promoted Deputy Harbour Master - Marine Services, Ed Walker and Marine Services Manager, Jock Rafferty.
