A APTIVATING UPPA WITH Shaakira Rahiman C 'C A FEW THOUGHTS TO GO WITH YOUR MORNING BREW From our Covered Magazine Brand Ambassador 2019 As someone who frequents socials and fundraisers on a monthly basis, both in my personal and professional capacity I have to acknowledge firstly just how well organised and seamlessly coordinated the " Step into Power " event was facilitated. Hats - off to the organisers: MyOnlineSouk, NoorulM Promotions & Covered Magazine who put together a light and fun pre - Eid Fashion Show in support of female empowerment for local designers and talent in our communities. Motivational guest speakers intercepted designer showcases and provided food - for - thought whilst the elegant and charming MC Candice Abrahams kept the ambiance and vibe electric and inspirational throughout the programme. ABOVE: Former Mrs World Candice Abrahams was the Official MC of the day with proceeds of the event going to the 'Candice Abrahams Foundation'. GUEST SPEAKERS: From Left, Johara Hassem, Shahista Thokan, Shaakira Rahiman-Saleh joined by Covered Columnists @what_ladies_luv & Sabeeha Docrat Cassim Spoken Word Artist Dineo Ma Qhawe had the audience entralled while behind the scenes models, and makeup artists worked tirelessly. pictured here is Covered Magazines very own Wasiema "Style Explora" "We chose the name "Step Into Power" for our event because we believe we all have power. We each have a unique talent and value to give to the world, that most of us don't embrace. We step back, let others take the light, undervalue ourselves and pretend we're average. It's time to stop pretending you're nothing special. You are so much more extraordinary than you've ever given yourself credit for and if you feel no one has acknowledged your wonderful abilities, it's because you haven't stepped into your power to show them yet." The above purpose of why this event was necessary resonated so deeply with me and many of the attendees I had the opportunity to network with. Guest speaker Shahista Thokan added: "The art form of fashion comes in here as a form of self expression. It aids with building a self image and identity. It can bring immense joy and positive endorphins to behavior. If u look good u feel good." I believe attending events such as these are just as educational and add value to growth and self- development as they are fun!
