Istanbul, formerly known as Byzantium and Constantinople, is the most populous city in Turkey and the hub of the country's economic, cultural , historic and tourist place. Istanbul is a transcontinental city in Eurasia, straddling the Bosporus strait between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. The Old and New City of Istanbul is separated by the Galata bridge . Travelling across to the New City is a total different experience. The tram or walk to the New City is a totally different experience. Walking across the Galata Bridge, you will get to see all the locals fishing from the bridge. It is along this stroll across the bridge, that you can enjoy the sesame covered pretzels sold by local vendors as you watch the boats carrying passengers down the Bosporus. If walking seems stressful then don’t despair as you can catch a ride on the funicular from the old city to Istiklal Avenue The funicular is the oldest tunnel line in continental Europe. The most famous street visited by tourists is the Istiklaal Avenue . A shoppers paradise. Pedestrianized cobbled Istiklal Caddesi, known as Istiklal streets, is a popular modern shopping street bustling with a variety of modern restaurants and cafés. You would think you are walking down the street of Paris as you pass designer boutiques housing the latest fashion designs. It is a must to experience the Kumpir here at the place called Potata.
