TRENDS________________________________________________________________________ Take the butterflies out of your tummy and let them flutter in your spring wardrobe! T he '90s trend is taking over the fashion industry. Everything old is new again. The ultra- feminine print to dominate that era was the butterflies. Well it’s either the 90s trend that gave this trend flight or its predecessor: the beetle that was a huge trend for almost 3 years from the Gucci bags to insect prints. Sticking to the insect trend, the butterfly could have originated from there too, an insect more closely associated to spring. Either way, it’s no surprise to see butterflies as a top #ss19 trend. I personally saw it first again by D&G but research indicates a Japanese couturier Hanae Mori showed her final collection in Paris during her last-ever runway show in 2004. Her models trailed down the runway veiled in beaded butterfly patterns, thus leaving a strong and loud “Mori did it first” in the fashion world. So much so, the butterfly became her signature. 32
