It’s an invitation to the world of food, and in our case, it comes with an entertaining and comedic spicing that adds all the flavor. as well as a variety of worldwide accents as the perfect garnish. Tasnim, who has background in journalism and media - including a stint with the SABC’s radio division, turned daily cooking chores into a whirlwind of quirkiness and inimitable off the cuff remarks. Gaining significant popularity initially on Snapchat, YouTube and now an Instagram hit, Chalo Kaawa participated in, and won, the Irtiqa Magazine’s Charity Cookoff Challenge 2019, with the prize money going to Rare Diseases South Africa. Chalo Kaawa aims to entertain and educate its followers and viewers not just about cooking and international stereotypes, but also to raise awareness about rare diseases, in particular Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which Chalo Kaawa’s Iman Casoojee - Tasnim’s daughter, has. Iman is a regular on Chalo Kaawa, offering her witty and insightful takes on the often ensuing pandemonium in the CK kitchen. With the Grace of the Almighty, Chalo Kaawa’s goal is to put smiles on faces, while keeping its followers thinking about the greater issues that people face on a daily basis. Chalo Kaawa – Toblerone Sojee By Tasnim Jadwat Casoojee ¼ cup butter 1 cup semolina ½ cup boiling water ½ cup milk ½ cup sugar 2 x 200g Toblerone chocolate cut into pieces ½ cup milk 100g Toblerone chocolate Melt butter in a saucepan. Braise Semolina until pink in colour. Add boiling water, milk and sugar. Mix well to avoid lumps. Melt Toblerone into milk in a saucepan. Add to semi cooked sojee. cook on low heat until done Set in a mould. Place 1x 100g Toblerone on top of unmoulded Sojee Warm in microwave Serve hot. 28
