MOMHOOD_______________________________________________________________________________ Being A #Mompreneur Can Be Easy ‘Peasy!’ By Tasneem Abrahams O n my personal journey in life, I have been blessed with an amazing husband, four beautiful children, a career that I love, a business and multiple projects I am passionate about. I am what is affectionately known as, a ‘mompreneur’. At the same time, I am continuously seeking that ever elusive ‘balance’. According to the dictionary, balance is: “A situation in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions. I read somewhere that the next time we want to say we don’t have time to do something, we should instead say, “that is not a priority for me right now”, because it’s not that we don’t have time - it's that we don’t have enough of it to do everything, and so we have to prioritise where and how we use it. In a study called ‘The Model of Human Occupation’, we understand human wellness in terms of how well our habits, motivation, abilities, as well as external circumstances hinder or enable the expression of our values. Balance, therefore, is not to have an equally divided pie chart of the different aspects of one’s life, but rather it is having a pie chart where the portions are weighed according to our values. Understanding your core values therefore helps you establish a clear vision for your life, which helps you establish clear goals and actions for your daily living. 28
