INFORMATION FOR PARENTS / CARERS AND PUPILS
Dear Parent / Carer
Your child is in S2 at school and is within the Broad General Education phase of their education . They will soon have the opportunity to personalise their curriculum and begin more of a focus on specific subject areas as they progress into S3 and thereafter enter the Senior Phase of their education
The course choice sheet is arranged to allow pupil choice within a balanced framework of educational opportunities . A balanced curriculum keeps options open and allows them to adapt to changing circumstances .

Important notes for Guidance and advice
1 Before selecting courses , pupils and parents / carers should consider carefully the advice given by the school and that there is breadth and balance across all the curriculum areas
2 Pupils should study subjects which ensure progress from their current level of attainment . Some pupils , in discussion with Support for Pupils staff , may have a reduced commitment .
3 Individual courses will be offered subject to the availability of staff and viable numbers opting for the course .
4 In the event that some courses are over-subscribed , performance and commitment to the subject area in S1 / S2 will be taken into account in allocating pupils to courses . The school will endeavour to ensure that all courses offered will run . However , this cannot be guaranteed and some changes may have to take place depending on the number of pupils opting for various courses and / or staff availability . Whilst every effort is taken to avoid this , it is nevertheless a possibility of which pupils and parents / carers should be aware . If a change is necessary , then pupils and parents will be informed at the earliest opportunity and pupils will be supported by Guidance PTs / Subject PTs to choose an alternative course .
