COURSE : Sports Performance Introductory Statement This course builds on the work from S1 & 2 Physical Education and continues to add depth to the experiences and outcomes in a practical setting . Learners will be encouraged to take part in a variety of physical activities which will broaden their understanding of how their body works , how to identify their strengths / weaknesses and the approaches used to develop skills . Continual evaluation of their performance will allow learners to develop their skills & physical activities and identify future development needs . There will be regular opportunities within the course for pupils to work together and develop their communication skills .
Aims & Objectives Progressing from S1 & S2 , the general aim of the course will be to allow learners to :
� Improve , develop and refine practical skills through engagement in a programme of Physical Education with a focus on Mental , Emotional , Social & Physical factors .
� Improve knowledge and understanding associated with a wide range of physical activities . � Continue to develop communication skills and ability to work with others . � Continually monitor and evaluate own performance and set targets that lead to
Improvement As far as possible , the focus of the work will be heavily based and personalised towards the pupil and the choices they make .
Course Content
The course will build on the knowledge and skills gained in S1 & 2 from Physical Education . � Developing movement skills , competencies and concepts � Improving physical fitness through the completion of a fitness programme � Working with others to co-operate and compete in a variety of activities � Investigating Mental , Emotional , Social & Physical Factors Impacting on Performance � Presenting personal learning plans that allow them to monitor their progress � Evaluate their performance through use of technology & working with others
