COURSE : Drama Introductory Statement The S3 Drama Course is designed to help pupils develop their skills , knowledge and understanding in either an acting or production role and to integrate and apply this understanding through practical learning activities . Learners will develop their imaginative ideas in an acting / production context . They will use a range of drama techniques . In the Course , learners are encouraged to exercise imagination and creativity and to communicate their thoughts , meanings and ideas through the work they produce .
Pupils will further develop key interpersonal skills , analytical and evaluative skills as well as develop creative approaches to problem solving and group work . Pupils will only succeed if they are good attenders and are willing to work collaboratively and positively with others at all times .
Aims & Objectives We aim to cover all relevant CFE Experiences and Outcomes . There should be a growing level of pupil input , choice and engagement throughout S3 ensuring each pupil gains the experiences most relevant to them .
The aims of the Course are to enable learners to : develop creativity and skills in problem solving , critical thinking and reflective practice
communicate thoughts , meaning and ideas when creating and performing drama and using production skills and techniques develop knowledge , understanding and appreciation of drama practice understand social and cultural influences on drama
Course Content The Course provides opportunities for pupils to be inspired and challenged by exploring dramatic ideas in creating and presenting drama . It is practical and focuses on the development of acting skills and using production techniques to perform drama . Written folios support the class work . As pupils develop practical skills in performing , they will develop cultural awareness of drama . Pupils will investigate and reflect on how the use of self-expression , language and movement can develop their dramatic ideas . Pupils will develop creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills as they explore and develop dramatic techniques . Pupils will also investigate production areas , using production skills to design , create and enhance their performance and the performances of others .
Skills Developed Literacy Listening and talking ; reading and writing The starting point of almost every response to stimuli in the drama classroom is to discuss , generate ideas , listen to others ’ ideas and develop these ideas . This is done both verbally and in detailed written work . Health and wellbeing All areas are covered This could be developed through a particular choice of stimuli . Pupils will discuss and create ideas , taking their own and other ’ s personal and social experiences into account .
