’17 PREVIEW
THE STORY GOES LIKE THIS: At the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair,
Ernest Hamwi was selling waffles at his booth next to an ice cream vendor.
When the ice cream stand ran out of bowls, Hamwi improvised, rolling one
of his waffles into a cone, and the edible vessel we all know was born.
It’s probably too much to apply words like “synergy” or “innovation” to
the moment ice cream met waffle cone. But every business has its challenges, and the potential for creative collaboration is all around.

and, more than likely, no one will write a commemorative song about
TREX (then again, we won’t stop you), the event is sure to produce some
excellent partnerships, and you’ll have the chance to see what the host
city has to offer. Read on to see what’s new in the Gateway to the West.
