They were the first act to be signed to a new Americana label founded by songwriting legend Jerry Salley. They are set to enthral fans of country and/or Americana with their hard-hitting songs about the often taboo subjects of substance abuse and murder. Although it’s not all dark and there are also some really fun songs across the album. It’s the strength of their songwriting that is immediately noticeable and it’s easy to see why somebody like Jerry Salley would be impressed and so keen to work with these young women. Despite not being siblings they harmonise amazingly well and at times reminded me of The Secret Sisters. Killed A Man might suggest these girls are not to be messed with but despite the dark and even humorous story that the song tells it’s delivered tunefully with hints of Salley’s bluegrass heritage in the production. The most gorgeous melody here is the nik-nik fiddle intro’d Kentucky’s Never Been This Far From Tennessee. You’re The Reason I Drink is the first song they ever wrote together and the tongue-in-cheek nature could have come from Kacey Musgraves four years ago, and the fun swipe at redneck
