It’s hard to turn down.” Stopping off in the UK this September on his way to the Country Night Gstaad festival in Switzerland Nichols says, “I’ve always wanted to come over and do specifically a UK tour, but for whatever reason the States just kept me either in the studio or promoting the studio albums here and I never really had time to stop and think globally until now. I don’t want to go any further without doing things that I’ve always wanted to do, like taking a trip to the UK and doing more of Europe, and maybe even go over to Asia.” Getting back to contemplating his next release Nichols admits, “I just feel like I’m not in a rush. I’m dipping my toes back in the studio a little bit, I kinda want to get back to making that first album. You know, getting the great songs, taking my time in the studio and making them as good as I can. If they come out great, then great. I want this [the next] album to be special. I really don’t want to be in the studio trying to make specific songs for specific people. I just want the album to be good.” If anyone can do it, Joe Nichols can. cmp Joe Nichols plays UK dates September 23rd – 27th.
