AUSTRALIA
This year, over 140 young people participated in workshops,
utilising the amazing recording and performance space that
the Cotton On Foundation has helped build at the Bukku
Larnggay Mulka Arts Center.
In 2016 we expanded our partnerships to do even more
to support quality education in remote communities. In
collaboration with the Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation we
have supported an innovative education program called
Learning On Country, for students in Yirrkala.
Through the Learning On Country program students take their
classroom to the bush and the traditional owners of the land
and their elders become their teachers. This style of learning
builds great cultural identity among the students, and makes
education a truly engaging experience.
46 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE LEARNING
ON COUNTRY WORKSHOPS.
