HEALTH
We made incredible progress in 2016 with our partners in the
Mannya and Busibo Health centers. We know that prevention
is the best medicine, so our focus this year has been on
supporting outreach clinics and village health teams. We’re
also committed to getting out in the community as much as
possible to give people advice early on how they can treat
illnesses before they get too serious or how to avoid serious
illness such as malaria, birthing complications, HIV and
waterborne diseases.
In March, we formally opened the Ross Langdon HIV
Education center in Mannya. This is a beautiful space that
is being used by the community for health education events,
training, and education for people living with HIV/AIDS. HIV
Education Sessions held in July, August, September and
October were delivered in collaboration with the Rakai health
science program, and the Mannya Health center has hosted
HIV prevention meetings at the center.
Through this preventative approach and ongoing support
of health centers, our goal is to ensure that no child misses
school due to preventable diseases and their communities
are healthy and happy.
