Climax You put significant initial thought into the hair your character would wear. Tell us about that. Like I said before, my character is a Smooth Operator. Be- cause of this, I didn’t want her to have one look; I wanted her to be versatile. So, I knew I wanted two looks for her because there is going to be a time where she is going to change her hair. I haven’t fully decided, though, if I am sticking to one or using both. You’ll just have to watch and see! When picking out this wig, what was important to you as an actress? I always say it’s about getting that je ne sais quois look. I want something that is going to showcase my beauty, not that I take it to my head. I just want to make sure it is the special and the right look for me. Why did you decide to purchase the wigs for your shoot instead of using your natural hair? I like to incorporate different styles with my character, and I’m always looking for more versatility. With the summer approaching, I need something that will maintain its style and essentially embody my character. With a wig, it’s eas- ier to do this and also keep my hair healthy from too much heat. I like to know what I look like not only in the mirror, but I like to know what I look like in camera. Also, you gotta get that second opinion. I sent the pictures to my sisters and they definitely had some opinions! But, it helped me narrow my decision down and ultimately choose the right looks for me. Don’t get me wrong. There are times where I surprise my sisters with a new look, but it’s always good to have another person agree with the decision you’re making. How do you maintain your wigs in between scenes switching back and forth? One of the things that’s important in film is continuity. The hair has to look the same all throughout each scene, not losing any curls or shine. One way I make sure it keeps its shape is by putting the wig on a wig head. That’s basic maintenance with anyone buying a wig for a film or not. Another great thing about my wig is the use of a curling iron. My hair is always being touched up during pauses and to be able to use heat on a synthetic 49
