Latin America Brazilian Men Increase Interest in Cosmetic Surgery A Study released by the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery revealed that the men’s cosmetic surgery rate increased exponentially since 2009. The study noted an increase from 72,000 cases to 276,000 in the period of 2009-2014—and estimated that a surgery happens every two minutes. The three most frequent surgeries include breast reductions, eyelid procedures, and liposuction. Researchers have several thoughts about why the change in numbers is so dramatic including a decrease in taboo and an increased awareness in personal image. Mane Invests in Brazil After introducing a collaboration with Balmain, H&M has announced it will be adding a scent to go with the collection. The collection by the designer has been a highly lauded and anticipated launch, and the added scent is sure to be met with great demand. The fragrance is a combination of jasmine and tonic beans with white musk and wood, a warm strong scent to go with the opulence of the collection. Although the scent will only be available in select stores, it will be available worldwide through the retailer’s online website. French perfumer and fragrance manufacturer Mane has announced plans to invest $55 million into a new plant in Jundiai, Brazil. The company has had a plant in Brazil for 38 years, and after consideration has decided to open a second to help meet local demand. The current plant serves companies like Natura and L’Oreal, as well as food and beverage industry companies like Coca-Cola and Amber. The company expects that construction will start in 2016 and the move will increase their market share from 2.5% to 5%.
