DONT’S • • • • • DON’T be cheap when buying hair extensions. Especially if the hairstyle allows a lot of hair movement. Cheap hair tends to be stiff and unnatural looking compared to more expensive hair. Plus, expensive extensions can be used quite a number of times. When cutting the extensions, DON’T cut them bluntly. You want them to look natural, and hair is naturally imperfect; as in not all strands of hair are of the same length. You might want to cut the extensions while your client is wearing them; this way you can customize the extensions to fit perfectly with her real hair. DON’T use too much hair. The weight of all those extensions is extremely uncomfortable, especially if your client isn’t used to wearing hair extensions. Also, the heavy weight can cause headache and breakage of hair. DON’T use hair extensions without knowing anything about them. Synthetic fibers are especially prone to melting and burning, so make sure they are heat resistant. Bridezilla would break loose if you accidentally melted the extensions and infused them with her real hair. (It’s not the kind of hot fusion extensions your client would have in mind.) DON’T clip extensions in right away without ensuring they won’t slide off. Some people have hair so fine that the clips will easily slide out. Tease the hair first, and add some hairspray to create a grip for the clips. 47
