Clean Hair, Better Hair
Initiative:
Getting Your Best Hair with iShampoo
I
f you’ve been an avid reader of our magazine,
there is an issue we often highlight within the
hair industry, which is becoming a huge problem
for customers, stylist, and brands. With the ever
-expanding world of Youtube, many consumers are
finding information from non-professional bloggers
and learning invaluable information on how to take
care of their hair. This can result in a number of
problems. The client already has stopped seeing a
professional, who although they may charge more,
properly takes care of the hair. This gives the blogger
self-esteem in thinking they are professional and
knowledgeable about hair, although they are lacking
basic skills. By the end of this situation, you have a
client’s hair not properly maintained, stylist cleaning
up the work and bloggers still spreading wrong
information to more people.
With the access to practice hair available to anyone,
it is important that qualified people are first, having
the license to teach, second, teaching correct information
and lastly, taking care of hair instead of damaging it.
For this initiative, we at CosmoBiz have focused on
setting the foundation of clean hair. Washing one’s
hair is assumed as a self-explanatory thing, but there
are proper steps to correctly washing the hair. This
includes using the right products, making sure the
shampoo is reaching the roots for a wash and re-
alizing the importance of cleaning your hair rather
than washing it with conditioner (co-wash). With our
campaign, we want to expand the correct washing
process so consumers are taking better care of their
hair and suffering less from damage.
As this initiative is very important to us, we are excited
when we come across like-minded businesses that see
the importance of properly taking care of hair. Seven

ladies who’ve worked in the same salon together all

were going to inexperienced, trendy stylists and
self-taught DIYers, which resulted in hair damage.
From there Jasmen Butler, Jackie Cyrille-Akuffo,
Charcelle Wilson, Victoria Bell, Donnasia Simms and
Ann Hanible created iShampoo. All ladies are licensed
cosmetologist or natural-hair certified.
“The beauty industry as we know it is in critical
condition,” said CEO Jackie Cyrille-Akuffo. “One
of the biggest problems is lack of education and
professionalism and as stylists who prides themselves
of healthy hair, it’s our job to provide a network of
professional, reliable and talented stylist that clients
can trust.”
