Trend Watch:
“The Wet Look”
“Did she just get out the pool? How is her hair
staying wet?” If you’ve asked these two questions,
more than likely, you’ve come upon the wet look
trend that’s been hitting the hair industry for the
past year. The “wet trend” features hair that mimics
how your hair would look after you dip your hair
in water. Your strands are a little thick and curly
with moisture still engulfed in the hair. Up until
recently, we’ve seen celebrities like Rihanna, Kim
Kardashian and Ciara wearing this style as one of
their go-to’s and continually spreading across the
Youtube world.
This style has grown to be one of our favorite looks
of the year. As the Summer is coming to a close
and cooler weather starts to arrive, wetting your
hair and going won’t be the best way to achieve
this style. Time, effort, along with some products
is what you’ll need to achieve this look. Here’s
a rundown of how you can achieve this look on
yourself, or even a client if you’re a stylist.
What you will need
• A Spray Bottle with water
• Liquid Protein
• Brush
• Organic Gel
How to get “The Wet Look”
Step 1 Empty your favorite liquid protein (travel size portion)
into the spray bottle with water. This will be used to give your
hair some body and health in the style.
Step 2 With the spray bottle, start to dampen the hair making
it almost drenched in water. For a cleaner application, use
a spray bottle that offers a mist feature rather than a heavy
squirt. This will evenly and adequately dampen the hair. How
damp you want your hair to be is personal preference.
Step 3 Now it’s time to use your organic gel. We are using
Cebu’s Gently Herbal Smooth and Silky Hair Gel. Apply a
generous amount to your fingers as opposed to your palms.
This makes the application of the products better. Start to
finger comb out the strands with the product getting a
generous amount on each strand from roots to end.
