Hello
Readers!
It’s time for mistletoe and holly once again. To me, there is
nothing more lovely than gathering with your loved ones for
good food and hot drinks when there’s a chill in the air out-
side. The holidays, regardless of which one you celebrate, are
a time for merriment, parties, and plenty of red lipstick. This
month, we’re showcasing all the styles you need to lure that
special someone under the mistletoe.
Along with our holiday style feature, we’ve got this issue jam
packed with gift ideas for everyone on your list! And we’re
sharing some important style tips to help you maintain your
hair’s integrity while getting the perfect do’. One of my fa-
vorite articles this month was our in-depth coverage of heat
protectants. I’ve always been skeptical of heat protectants.
They often seem like a superfluous step, but after learning
about how they work, I’ve changed my mind for good! I loved
getting to learn about the science of how they work from both
Lab Muffin and Sister Scientist. Seeing more and more sci-
entific approaches to beauty is something that I love. We’ve
mentioned in our past issues that the world of beauty is often
wrought with well-intentioned misinformation. For those of
us without a science background, it’s easy to get caught up in
the glitz of ad copy. I’m very thankful that there has been such
a move for more factual information with a rally of brilliant
female scientists, like these two, behind it.
This month, we also had the amazing opportunity to put to-
gether a makeup course with celebrity artist Carla Pressley.
Carla taught an amazing lesson at Bella Crown in Clinton,
MD. Carla is an amazing woman whose career has lead her
to work on Project Runway, with Kate Spade, as well as with
Martha Stewart Weddings. Her work is beautiful and she’s well
renowned in the DC area. We’re looking forward to where this
amazing artist’s career will take her.
We’re so very thankful to everyone who helped us with this
issue and every issue, as well as to our readers. We wish you
