famed makeup artist has finally released a product of
her own. If you saw the gold lips done by McGrath at
Prada’s spring runway, then you already know how gorgeously luxe it is. The gold paint for eyes, lips, and skin
or “Gold 001” as it’s officially called was announced
in Paris at the Tuileries, where McGrath and assistants
painted models, editors, and passersby with the metallic
hue. Gold 001 will launch later this year on McGrath’s
website, patmcgrath.com.
ZENDAYA GETS A BARBIE
After last year’s Oscars controversy over remarks made
about Zendaya’s dreadlocks, Mattel announced it plans
to release a Barbie in honor of the singer. The doll will
be a tribute to Zendaya’s Oscar look, wearing a replica
of her Vivienne Westwood gown and will be complete
with its own dreads. Giuliana Rancic of Fashion Police has been criticized for remarking that the hairstyle
made Zendaya look like she smelled of “patchouli oil
and weed.” “My wearing my hair in locks on an Oscar
red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to
remind people of color that our hair is good enough,”
she told Galore in their October issue, which featured
her on the cover. “My parents are both educators and the
way they raised me was to always be aware of what’s
going on in my business as well as in my personal life.
[They] never really sheltered me from anything. They
were always very open with me, which is probably why
I’m able to be real.”

AT TEDX TALK
Out of the 40 applicants to present at the first-time
event held in the Carolina Foothills area, Tanisha Akinloye was one of the 12 chosen to speak at the TEDx
Talk, which happened in early September. Akinloye’s

salon and how she has given up her job and hairstyling
practice to launch ETBINC, all because she wanted to
give back..
“People were in tears,” she said. “They came up to
me, told me they were touched by my spirit and passion
and said you need to continue to share this speech over
and over.”
