The gold paint for eyes, lips, and skin or “Gold 001” as it’s officially called was announced in Paris at the Tuileries, where McGrath and assistants painted models, editors, and passersby with the metallic hue. Gold 001 will launch later this year on McGrath’s website, patmcgrath.com. ZENDAYA GETS A BARBIE After last year’s Oscars controversy over remarks made about Zendaya’s dreadlocks, Mattel announced it plans to release a Barbie in honor of the singer. The doll will be a tribute to Zendaya’s Oscar look, wearing a replica of her Vivienne Westwood gown and will be complete with its own dreads. Giuliana Rancic of Fashion Police has been criticized for remarking that the hairstyle made Zendaya look like she smelled of “patchouli oil and weed.” “My wearing my hair in locks on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough,” she told Galore in their October issue, which featured her on the cover. “My parents are both educators and the way they raised me was to always be aware of what’s going on in my business as well as in my personal life. [They] never really sheltered me from anything. They were always very open with me, which is probably why I’m able to be real.” FOUNDER OF ETBINC SPEAKS ABOUT WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT AT TEDX TALK Out of the 40 applicants to present at the first-time event held in the Carolina Foothills area, Tanisha Akinloye was one of the 12 chosen to speak at the TEDx Talk, which happened in early September. HERVÉ NAVELLOU IS APPOINTED GENERAL MANAGER OF L’ORÉAL FRANCE L’Oreal France announces it will incorporate a general management structure led by Hervé Navellou, President of the Western Europe Zone for the Consumer Products Divisi on. Hervé Navellou joined L’Oréal in 1986 and spent most of his career with the Consumer Products Division. He has had a long and successful career with the company, including work as Brand General Manager in Belgium and Germany and Country Manager in Mexico.
