of some of LA’s most talented extensionists.
2. How did you become interested in the
source of hair for extensions? And what
motivated you to film your journey and
make a documentary? What was your
experience with and understanding of
the origin of extensions before you
started doing all this research?
I became interested in the source of hair extensions as
a result of my frustrations with the quality of the hair
extensions that I was receiving from vendors in China.
I was under the impression that I was purchasing top
notch hair, which was intended to last for eight months
or longer that barely made 30 days without matting
and tangling. As a businesswoman, my goal is to deliver quality products that I can stand behind. Initially, I
wasn’t going to document my journey, but a client suggested that I hire a cameraman and I did.
3. When did you decide you needed to do
such an extensive trip, to all of these
countries, to see each segment of the
extension market? What prompted you
to go to each segment as opposed to
just one or two?
In the beginning, China was the only country on my
list, but as the truth unfolds and I discovered the manipulation of the industry, it was important for me to find
out how other countries process hair extensions.
4. You traveled for a long period of time
to learn more about this extension industry. Can you tell us about your journey and what impressed you the most
