Natural Hair
Ready for Winter
A
s pretty as winter can be with freshly
fallen snow, holiday decor, and of course,
the fashion—it’s tough on natural hair.
Fortunately the enemy of natural hair
despair is preparation. As long as you’re working on
your locks before old man winter shows up, you’ll be
sure to make it out the coldest season of the year with
all your strands in tact.
and if not, this is the perfect time to start. If you do a
protein treatment every six weeks, make it every three.
If you tend to do one every four months, make it every
other month. Still be cognizant of your hair’s general
reaction to protein because you don’t want to overdo it,
but upping the ante just a tad will do wonders to help
strengthen your strands.
What To Use: A good protein treatment doesn’t have
to break the bank, and applying a simple DIY treatment
with ingredients from your kitchen will do the trick just
fine. Try whipping a few eggs with your favorite oil and
let your hair soak up all those wonderful nutrients for
30 - 45 minutes before rinsing.
STRENGTHENING
Start off your winter preparation by getting your
natural hair stronger than ever. It’ll definitely need
the extra strength to hold up against the dropping
temperature, wind chill, and that pretty snow I
mentioned earlier. By working on your hair before the
frost kicks in, your natural locks have a better chance
against damage and breakage.
What To Do: Increase your protein treatments. Protein
should already be a part of your normal hair regimen,

MOISTURIZING
Natural hair in general needs more moisture than any
other hair type. In the winter, that need is amplified.
